To be honest, I was expecting an overtly religious movie (especially once we got to the fist scene with the crucifix in Bible) that focused more on pushing a religious narrative like a Kevin Sorbo film. I was very impressed with the Hollywood quality storytelling and cinematography, as well as the cast. “Watched ‘Shut In’ during the live stream premiere on YouTube. As a mom, watching this had me screaming at the TV several times, covering my eyes, getting angry, getting scared… all the emotions,” one viewer wrote. And the acting was amazing! The message was really good too. ![]() “I just finished watching it with my husband, It was so good! It was so intense, I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. ![]() This is one I’d add to my movie collection.”īy Saturday morning, there were over 500 reviews posted on the site - the vast majority of them positive. “Great acting on all parts, and the scenes were very real. “I think it was a very solid movie and suspenseful movie,” another person agreed. “The depth and craftsmanship with which the film is executed and the motifs fulfilled was extremely satisfying and left me reflecting far past just the plot of the movie.” ![]() “Honestly very impressive for an original production from a non-major industry player,” one reviewer wrote. Positive reviews began pouring in following the premiere and just like critic reviews from earlier in the week, the fans had overwhelmingly positive things to say about “Shut In.” As of Friday morning, the film has an incredibly 98% audience review score on Rotten Tomatoes. ![]() The E-2 will power Launcher Light, the small launch vehicle the company is developing for a first flight in 2024. That outperforms other American engines, including SpaceX’s Merlin, and is behind only the Russian RD-180. The company says the E-2 has a specific impulse at sea level of 288 seconds, and 326 seconds in vacuum. Launcher has emphasized the high performance of the E-2 compared to other engines that use kerosene and liquid oxygen. “We’re also excited that they see the value of the staged combustion engine and its high performance.” “What we’re doing now is taking it to the next level, which is a long-duration test and the turbopump,” he said of the new award. “We’re excited that they were pleased with our performance and that they wanted to sponsor us for another one.” “That was a really big boost for us in validation and funding,” Max Haot, founder and chief executive of Launcher, said in an interview at the company’s headquarters here. Launcher won another SBIR award from the Air Force in 2019, valued at $1.5 million, for E-2 engine development. The engine features a combustion chamber 3D-printed using a copper alloy and runs on liquid oxygen and RP-1 propellants. The company has been testing the engine at NASA’s Stennis Space Center in Mississippi, including a test in April where the engine generated its full thrust of about 22,000 pounds-force. That includes full-duration testing of the engine’s turbopump and long-duration testing of the combustion chamber. Launcher announced May 25 it received the SBIR Phase 2B tactical funding increase, or TACFI, award from the Space Force earlier this month to accelerate work on the company’s E-2 engine. Space Force that will assist the company’s development of a high-performance rocket engine for its small launch vehicle. Launcher won a $1.7 million contract from the U.S. ![]() You can see as he evolved with Bottle Rocket, Rushmore and Tenenbaums his visual style slowly took a larger and larger place in his films. There’s no denying that for the first part of his career he found a beautiful balance with his unique visual and emotional styles. Fox find Anderson moving back in the right direction, and the more I watch Fox the better it gets, but, for me, they don’t reach the height of his early career trifecta. ![]() For me, The Darjeeling Limited and Fantastic Mr. Moonrise Kingdom falls prey to the same problem. By the end we’re supposed to feel for this relationship, but the film becomes so muddied in its own gleeful imagery and imagination that we don’t. But the film’s core emotional story between Zissou (Bill Murray) and his possible son (Owen Wilson) doesn’t have the emotional pull it should. The LIfe Aquatic is a funhouse of visual gags and really bonkers characters (especially Willem Dafoe’s Klaus), which makes it very entertaining. His later films have a larger scope and budget that gave him the freedom to experiment, but that freedom also causes him to lose focus on his characters. That’s what makes him so special and that’s why even his lesser efforts are still pretty great. You know a Wes Anderson movie from the first frame. Instead I think the emotions are there, but they are somewhat sacrificed to what has become a slightly bloated visual style.Īnderson’s films have these very easily noticeable qualities: a distinctive, detail-focused visual style and an equally discernible comedic dryness and emotional subtlety. Some have argued that Anderson’s films post- Tenenbaum lack a powerful emotional element, but I don’t buy that. Fox rival his best work, but I do concede that there’s still some magical, unexplainable element missing. I still attest that The Darjeeling Limited and Fantastic Mr. That’s not to say that they don’t have their defenders, but the number of them is much smaller. His first three films can easily be described as his most universally loved while his later efforts like The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou and Moonrise Kingdom are met with a more mixed reaction. The second includes everything he’s made since. As it stands now his fans unofficially divide his films into two categories: The first consists of his first three films ( Bottle Rocket, Rushmore and The Royal Tenenbaums). Anderson is completely confident in his ability not just with his eyes, but also with his heart.īefore I talk about that film, though, it’s important to look at the film in the context of Anderson’s career. It’s such an original, efficient, beautiful, sad, hilarious work. ![]() Right from the start of Rushmore I still get that jolt that I’m watching something special. The movie tells the story of ambitious, eccentric, insecure 15-year-old Max Fisher, a kid at a prep school who spends way too much time on extra-curricular activities, not enough time on his studies and is always trying to make his mark on his beloved Rushmore Academy. Not because the filmmaker has less talent now than he did 15 years ago, but because the Anderson that made Rushmore has, more or less, disappeared. Rushmore is the best film Wes Anderson has ever made, and it would take something incredibly special for him to top it. ![]() Unholy DK, Feral, Fire Mage, Outlaw Rogue, Elem Shaman, Fury Warrior.Īrcane Mage, Ret Pala, Assassination Rogue, Enh Shaman, Demo Warlock.īeast Mastery Hunter, Windwalker Monk, Discipline Priest, and Destruction Warlock.īlood DK, Vengeance DH, Guardian Druid, Brewmaster Monk, Prot Paladin, Prot Warrior. The hummingbird migration map here is handy for knowing arrival dates each year. It’s quite a feat for a tiny bird on its own. Plenty of hummingbirds may pass through our area and a few will stay and raise their young.Īnd, while we think of migrations as flocks, hummingbirds travel solo. Where we live in Ontario, Canada, the first spring arrivals appear in late April and early May. One day you think, I haven’t seen one in several days or more-and at some point realize they must have moved on. Unlike the spring migration where you start noticing hummingbirds in the garden, their departure in fall takes observations over time. Others make the journey north to spend the summer in various parts of the United States and Canada. Some hummingbirds in warmer climates never migrate for mating season. ![]() Hummingbirds are found in the Americas all the way to Alaska, through parts of Canada and the United States, to the southern tip of South America, and the Caribbean as well.
